The hair removal laser we use is the Lumenis SplendorX. Its BLEND X technology, FDA-cleared for simultaneous dual emission, fires two wavelengths at once: Alexandrite at 755 nm and neodymium YAG at 1064 nm.

Each wavelength has a job. Alexandrite is absorbed strongly by the melanin in dark hair and works well on lighter skin. Neodymium YAG is absorbed less by the pigment at the skin's surface, so it can reach deeper follicles with less risk to darker skin. Our clinicians set the blend between the two for your skin tone and hair type, which is how fair, olive, and deep complexions across Tampa Bay are all treated on the same laser.

The SplendorX also uses a large square spot designed to reduce gaps and overlap between pulses, which speeds up treatment on large areas such as the back and legs. Its built-in dual cooling system cools the skin during each pass.

Hair grows in cycles, and the laser disables only the follicles that are actively growing on the day of treatment. Sessions are spaced a few weeks apart to reach the next group as it becomes active. Most clients see significant reduction after six to eight sessions, and hormonal areas such as the face, underarms, and bikini line may need a few more.

At your first visit, we review your skin type, hair color, medical history, and medications, because some medications change how skin reacts to laser light. Shaving between sessions is fine, but stop waxing and plucking four to six weeks before you start, since the laser needs the hair root in place.

You wear protective eyewear during each session. Afterward, the treated skin may look red or feel warm, like a mild sunburn, and this usually fades within a few hours to a day.

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

FDA clearance for hair removal lasers uses the term permanent hair reduction, which the FDA defines as a long-term, stable reduction in the number of hairs that regrow after a treatment course. It does not mean every hair is gone for good. Hair growth typically drops sharply, what does return tends to be finer and lighter, and some clients book a touch-up once or twice a year.
